Impact Assessments

This is a hands-on, practical workshop designed to explain the rationales and objectives of impact assessments, best practice in preparing then, what to bear in mind as you go through the stages, and how to go about ensuring both compliance and practical, successful outcomes and results

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the rationale for Impact Assessments, and their aims and intended outcomes
  • Understand how impact assessments fit into the policy process
  • Understand the Better Regulation executive’s agenda and where to look for additional available help and guidance
  • Understand how to carry out specific impact tests
  • Learn techniques for thinking outside the box and putting yourself in the position of those who will be affected by your policy proposals
  • Learn and practise how to draft and structure effectively, and how to incorporate new ideas into policies which may need to be modified
  • Understand how the spirit of the framework can help in practical terms in achieving desired effective policy outcomes
