Baroness Byford DBE

Baroness Byford was raised to the House of Lords in 1996. She became an opposition Whip and was then Spokesperson for Agriculture from 1998-2002, Environment from 1998-2003, and for Food, Farming and Rural Affairs from 1998 – 2007.

Hazel was Chairman of the National Committee of Conservative Women from 1990-93, Vice-President and then President of the National Union of Conservative and Unionist Associations, Patron of the Institute of Agricultural Secretaries and Administrators, President of the National Farm Attractions Network, and President of Concordia, the Guild of Agricultural Journalists, the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, and the Royal Association of Dairy Farmers.

She is also a Member of the Royal Agricultural Society, and the British Veterinary Association. She was awarded a DBE in 1994.
