Baroness Quin

Joyce Quin became a Life Peer in 2006. Prior to that, she was a Labour Member of Parliament for Gateshead East from 1987-97, and for Gateshead East and Washington West from 1997-2005. In the Commons, she was Opposition Spokesperson for Trade and Industry, Employment, and Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. In Government, she was a Minister of State at the Home Office, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and was Minister of State and Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

Joyce was also in the European Parliament as the MEP for Tyne and Wear from 1979-89, and as such, is one of a small and select number of public figures to have worked in three different Parliamentary institutions. Her political interests include the European affairs, industrial policy, and regional policy, and she is Chair of the European Union All Party Parliamentary Group.
