Derek Hart
Derek is an experienced senior manager with proven leadership, motivational and business management skills. He is an entertaining and involving communicator with an enthusiastic, friendly and dynamic style and a genuine desire to make a real difference to the individuals and organisations with whom he works.
In his first career, Derek spent more than 30 years serving as an officer in the Royal Navy, mainly at sea as a front-line weapon engineer in aircraft carriers, destroyers and frigates where he learned the value of a high performing, high morale and highly motivated workforce, working together in harmony and harnessing teamwork, discipline and flexibility. He spent the last 10 years of his naval career in shore-based headquarters leading complex multi-site organisations and successfully delivering massive organisational change through the tailored application of programme and project management methodologies.
He subsequently spent a number of years in the private sector, where his many significant achievements included the successful restructuring and streamlining of a major training organisation, directing a business critical recruitment campaign to expand the headcount by 33% over 3 sites and initiating a portfolio of projects to reinvigorate a flagging partnering relationship with the company’s primary business partner.
Derek now focuses his talents on leading and facilitating change, and delivering popular and acclaimed training and consultancy interventions where he draws extensively on his varied personal experiences. His clients have included many Government departments, as well as major private sector companies.
Derek is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development and he has a Master’s degree in Strategic HR Change and Development.
