Robert Evans
Former MEP
Robert Evans is a former Labour Member of the European Parliament, where he represented London from 1994 until he stood down in 2008. He was the Chief Observer of the European Union Electoral Observer Mission to Pakistan and he has also represented the European Parliament on a Number of other Election Observation Missions, including Cambodia where he was the EU Chief Observer, Moldova, Albania and Afghanistan.
Robert was also a member of the South Asia delegation with a particular interest in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and a leading member of the Georgia, Azerbajan and Armenia Delegation in addition to his work with both the Romania and Moldova Joint Parliamentary Committees. He was also a prominent supporter of animal welfare both in the European Parliament and at national level. He was a Substitute Member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, and a Member of the Committee on Tourism and Transport. From 1999-2004 he was Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Citizens' Freedoms and Rights, Justice and Home Affairs, and from 2004 to 2007 he was Chairman of the European Parliamentary Labour Party.
