The Role of Regulation in Policy-Making

Please contact us for details of future dates

Course Overview

Regulation has become an increasingly preferred policy instrument of governments, and this course will therefore look at what regulation is, who the key actors are, how different stakeholders (businesses, politicians, regulators) should interact, and how regulation is appropriately enforced.

This course is designed for those engaged with the overlap of policy and regulation - the rise of the 'regulatory state' - including government officials, regulators and other stakeholders.

Distinguished Speakers:

  • Sir Henry Bellingham, Member of the House of Lords and former Foreign Office Minister

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course the delegates will be able to:

  • Understand what regulation is and how it relates to other types of policy intervention
  • Gain knowledge of the key actors in the regulatory process, including politicians, independent regulatory agencies, and the regulated industry
